Tractor trailer driver crashes into ravine

The driver of a tractor trailer lost control and careened down over an embankment, smashing through guard rails, into a small ravine in a wooded area while traveling south on Rt. 15 just past the Clear Springs Road intersection Friday evening, April 19.

Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Program
Over 1,000 acres preserved

Warrington Township has now surpassed 1,000 acres preserved through the Agricultural Conservation Easement Purchase Program. The announcement by Chair Jason Weaver came at the April 11 supervisors' meeting. Weaver is a member of York County's agricultural preservation board.

Weaver noted the board met earlier that day, and 234.3 acres more from Warrington were added to the preservation list. In neighboring Washington Township, the 182.2 added acres boosts that township to over 2,000 acres pre- served.

Northern Softball

Lady Polar Bears win three

In girls’ varsity softball last week, Northern H.S. won three games last week, capped by a 7-2 road win over host Red Land H.S. on Friday, April 19. Northern completed all their scoring by the top of the fifth inning to hold off the Lady Patriots. Starting pitcher Grace Singer went six innings and allowed two runs on five hits. She had nine strikeouts and three walks. Sammy Magee pitched one inning in relief, allowing no hits or runs while striking out one batter. Offensively, the Lady Polar Bears posted 12 hits led by Trinity Artman who went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Tayler Yoder who went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Jalyn Welch had a 2-for-4 effort with an RBI and Magee also went 2-for-4 at the plate. Emily Randalls, Sabrina Paulin and Hannah Keith added one hit apiece.

Roof, Gibb have big days at state gymnastics meet

Two Northern youth gymnasts -- Paige Roof and Ella Gibb -- turned in performances to remember at the Level 6 Pennsylvania State Championships, held at Nittany Valley Sports Complex in State College.
Roof, representing Skyline Gymnastics and competing in the Level 6
Junior A Division, was a state champion in the beam with a score of 9.850. Roof also finished as the runner- up in the all-around with a 37.9, while also claiming third in both the vault and floor, and fifth in the bars.
Gibb, competing for Prestige Gymnastics in the Level 6 Child A Division, placed seventh overall with a 37.3 score.
