Trees block road

High winds knocked down or damaged over 12 trees on the Scott Shedlock property in the 200 block of Carlisle Road, Carroll Township, Monday at 1:57 p.m. One of the trees fell on a moving vehicle, knocking out its back window. High winds also knocked over a swing set in the backyard. The road was closed for several hours as Dillsburg Citizen Hose, Franklintown Fire Company, Dillsburg ambulance, fire police and Carroll Township Police were on the scene.

One of many large trees that fell during Monday afternoon’s high winds in the 200 block of Rt. 74, Carroll Township. This one blocked the road for hours.

Supervisors take a step toward West Shore Ambulance

Franklin Township supervisors agreed to a memorandum of understanding with the West Shore Ambulance Service, paving the way for a possible decision to sign with them if they like what they see.

The memorandum will hopefully answer some questions that supervisors and residents still have about the service coverage, cost and location of a facility.

While there was some pushback against using West Shore, others spoke in favor of the switch. Supervisor Mike Ryan insisted it will save money because the township would be charged a flat $35 fee for each call that is answered and would be paid back $75 for any missed calls. Ryan made the motion for the memorandum of understanding with West Shore.

For much of the summer, the most common opponent for the Northern York Fastpitch Association 12U Polar Elite had been Mother Nature.

Rain has cancelled three tournaments for Jason Randalls' NYFA squad, but the team has been seeing the field in recent weeks and has been experiencing a reasonable amount of success.

Pictured from left, front row are Sarah Turner, Tayler Yoder, Jessica Li, Leah Jayman, Karla Elicker and Emily Randalls. Back row: Alli Maylock, Rylee Martin, Madisyn Saposnek, Maya Kemper, Hailey Irwin, Ashley Miller.     The Dillsburg Wolfpack is certainly showing up to play in the West Shore Twilight Baseball League, but the wins just haven't been materializing for Harry Sanders' squad.

The Wolfpack dropped to 4-9 with a 4-0 loss to Mechanicsburg last Tuesday and an 8-6 setback to Enola on Wednesday. There was no report for Monday's game between Dillsburg and Mechanicsburg.
