A short film directed and produced by Dillsburg native Andrew Fitzgerald was selected to debut at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival. .

"Sundance receives around 9,000 short film submissions each year, so needless to say, to be selected was quite a thrill," said Fitzgerald, who was notified from one of the festival programmers in mid-November last year. The festival was held January 19 to 29 with screenings and events in Park City, Salt Lake City, and the Sundance Mountain Resort.

Community safety and recreation were top on the list of topics addressed by the Dillsburg Borough Council last Tuesday.

The council voted to donate $5,000 to the Carroll Township Police department for the purchase and installation of cameras in their vehicles.

Carroll Township Police Chief Thomas Wargo thanked the borough for the contribution. Wargo said that his department is ready to place the order. Cameras are also being installed in state police cars, he added, so the local police may have to wait a while before the system is installed in the township police vehicles.

Two adults and two children along with their pet dogs escaped injury after their porch caught on fire, quickly spreading throughout the house in the 800 block of Buck Road, Conewago Township, Sunday, February 19. Three firemen were not so lucky battling the fire from their metal ladder. They were shocked from the electrical lines going to the energized house and were taken to an area hospital. Water had to be shuttled from nearby hydrants. The house is a total loss and the fire marshal is due to inspect the damage this week.     Many Northern H.S. and Mid Penn swimmers starred in last Saturday's Mid Penn Plunge hosted by the Polar Bears. Both Northern squads were crowned team champions with the Lady Bears team leading the way with 61 points and the Boys squad winning their title with 68 points. Equally important was the all-star effort of the entire Northern team of swimmers, parents, families, high school administration and coaches who made the event a success. It is well-known among Mid Penn coaches and teams that Northern puts on a first-class meet each year, and a meet that provides post season opportunities for athletes to improve and establish personal records.

Evangeline Soerens placed third in the Girls 200-Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:12.31.
