Changing of Habits

____It's no wonder that the New Year so often brings resolutions to cut back on consumption. Many of us in Dillsburg have spent the past week grazing through the celebrations, an activity which isn't over yet.
____Does anyone ever silently wonder, "Am I REALLY hungry?" Or do all of us just go on eating until the spell of hypnosis is broken and we come to our senses with painfully binding waistbands?
____If more of us practiced stopping before satiation, we'd be a lot healthier for it. Think of it: hunger pangs mean we haven't stretched our appetites to the point where only stapling surgery will reduce excesses of indulgence. Instead of eating a dozen cookies in one sitting, it would be better to eat just one cookie, slowly and in small bites. ____Instead of opting for servings of roast beef AND turkey AND ham, why not choose just one meat and save the other selections for another meal on another day? Better still, don't lay in supplies of candy and bake multiplied sweets in a dizzying assortment that mesmerizes us into saying, "One of each, please!"
____It's such a splendid idea, I wonder why I haven't thought of it before now? The notion is so brilliant, in fact, it begs for immediate implementation. And I fully intend to do so--right after ringing in the new year. Meanwhile, let me finish up the rest of that delicious sausage-cheese dip. Can't waste it! Or do I mean waist it?
