A motorist skims across flood waters from Fishers Run on Mumper Lane Friday morning.
As Tropical Storm Debby dumped from three to six inches of rainfall in the Dillsburg area last Friday morning, some residents found themselves taking a convoluted route to work during rush hour. Portions of roads were closed due to small creek flooding, debris and downed trees. However, local road crews and officials were able to stay on top of the tree damage and open most of the thoroughfares by midday.
“I was out with the road crew all day Friday,” Carroll Township Manager and Zoning Officer Brandon Slatt said. “The fire police had the roads closed for us as we removed the debris,” he said. “If they came across a downed tree, they shut the road until we cleared it.”

Wicked Wrench: Full service power equipment repair shop opens its doors
Bob Shreve/Staff Reporter
Most homeowners realize that caring for their homes is a constant chore. The outside area may be the most time consuming, to keep looking beautiful.
Yards need mowed, flowerbeds weeded and mulched and trees need pruning. In the fall, there is the raking and removing of the leaves; in winter, shoveling or snow blowing the wintry mix off driveways, patios and sidewalks.
Under most circumstances homeowners use outdoor power equipment to complete these chores. There are times that power equipment will fail to run or will breakdown. When those breakdowns do occur there is a local company that will make those repairs of your tools.
The Wicked Wrench, located at 917 Park Place, Monroe Township, near Mechanicsburg is a full service, outdoor power equipment repair shop owned and operated by Jared Mateer.
