Dillsburg Youth Baseball: Six for six: DYB sweeps District 14 title banners
Andy Sandrik/Dillsburg Banner
It's not often that the weight of an entire youth baseball organization rests on the shoulders of a group of first- and second-graders, but that's exactly the situation Dillsburg Youth Baseball's 7-8 All-Stars found themselves in at last week's District 14 Clarence Boyd Tournament.
Facing the prospect of trying to match the accomplishments of DYB's other five All-Star teams -- all of whom captured a district championship banner -- Dillsburg's youngest group of sluggers came through in the clutch. Facing SYC in the district double-elimination bracket, Dillsburg churned out a 5-3 win on July 24, before defeating SYC again on July 25, this time by a 10-4 score.
The 7-8 CBT All-Stars, led by manager Steve Murphy and coaches David Cornwall and Ryan Palmer, wrap up their season with a 6-0 record after outscoring their competition by a 44- 13 margin. Members of the team include Brooks Kirk, Carson O’ Brien, Colton Heisey, Colton Morret, Dylon Hess, Easton Bucek, Jacob Toms, Baker, Liam Murphy, Link Cornwall, Rhett Gilbert, and River Palmer.
