Wellsville Borough: First paid firefighter-drivers started June 3
A new era for Wellsville Fire Company began June 3 with the start of its first paid firefighter-drivers. Fourteen part-time drivers will fight fires from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
As Wellsville Mayor Craig Harlacker said at the June 3 borough council meeting, he and Fire Chief Larry Anderson will no longer have to worry that no one will be available to fight fires during weekday daylight hours. He said that rapid fire response is now guaranteed during the weekdays. The fire company's daylight volunteers have dwindled as most of the local volunteer firefighters work outside the immediate area.

Solar energy panels, does it make sense for you
Chanty Webb/Staff Reporter
Jason Ohrum of Ethical Energy Solar has had a life-long career in the real estate business. “I'm a real estate professional and I've been doing that for a long time. But I'm also a real estate investor.” Along with buying fixer-uppers which he renovated and sold at a profit, he also raised money to buy large-cash flow assets like multi-family apartment buildings.
“We bought one of those exactly three years ago this month, a 27-unit, and then right after that the market completely changed.” When the real estate market took a turn, Ohrum said he had to figure out a new plan of action for his career.
He had had solar installed on his property one year ago and recognized the return on investment. Ohrum said that as a realtor, it was almost a natural transition for him to look into being a solar energy advisor. “I was telling everyone about it anyway.”
Once he found Ethical Energy Solar, he said that he wanted to be a sales consultant.
“Their process is super non-pushy unlike you see in this industry a lot,” he said.
They are the only company in Pennsylvania that can provide an appraisal addendum, which makes them stand out from others, Ohrum said.
“If you go to sell your home, the appraisers are very subjective. Depending on the appraiser, they may or may not value that solar system - at what it should be valued.”
