Carroll Township: Several extensions given to plans

Kristen Stagg/Staff Reporter

At the Carroll Township board of supervisors work session on June 3, Supervisors Brent Sailhamer and Tim Kelly were absent. Supervisor Kelly Wall, chairing the meeting, announced that Kelly is “doing well,” and thanked the public for their interest in his health.

Public comments
During public comment, resident Chelsea Markel asked about the board's intention for rezoning land on Golf Course Road that had previously been proposed for a warehouse. She shared with the board results of a poll she posted on Facebook, concluding, “You said at your last meeting, 'You have a board that is interested,' so what specific timing can we expect for answers? I don't see it on the agenda.” Wall assured Markel supervisors are considering the matter.

Windy Heights resident Sandra Eimer brought up the drainage issues he's mentioned at numerous meetings, and that builder Tom Fuentes told her “I did it in 2001,” so is not going to do anything else. Eimer said Fuentes claimed, “Tom Smith said it's okay.”

Township manager Brandon Slatt said the township doesn't yet have the notice of termination for the project.

Northern softball: JV Polar Bears finish 10-5

Joe Guty/Dillsburg Banner

With a strong offensive line-up, the Northern High School JV Softball team finished with a 10-5 record this past season. In one stretch this year--from April 17 to April 25—the Polar Bears played four games, going 4-0, and outscored their opponents, 83-19. Bre Baughman led the team in home-runs with four. Paige Liddick and Brooklyn Rotolo tied for second in home-runs with two apiece. With several schools in the area having difficulty fielding full JV teams, Northern often faced teams that had swing players in both games.

“The hitting for the team this year was probably our strongest part,” said coach Mark Clendaniel. “It was a successful season all around.”
