Warrington Township
Work on Poplar Road planned
Carolyn Hoffman/Staff Reporter
Warrington Township supervisors plan to work on Poplar Road this construction season, but that work nearly didn't happen. Supervisors were discussing putting off work on Poplar until next year, when a resident reminded them work on Poplar was put off for the “last six years” and then detailed the safety issues with a hilly and twisty section of that road.
As a result, supervisors asked the engineer for estimates for the road work on Poplar and also on Minebank Road but emphasized that Poplar would be the main choice. Before the discussion at the March 14 session, it appeared that Conley Road would be worked on at an estimated cost of $340,000. Other factors in waiting to work on Conley is the possibility of a subdivision along that road and the fear that construction trucks would tear up the new work. Further, Conley was said to be less traveled than Poplar.
An older estimate of work on Poplar was $196,000 and for Minebank at $40,000, but updated estimates will be available at the April meeting. Conley Road was said to need a complete rebuild because the road was “gone.,” Warrington can't afford to do all three roads in the same year.

Golden Rentals celebrates 20th Anniversary
Mary Lou Bytof/Staff Reporter
As local homeowners begin to prepare for outdoor Spring planting, landscaping and celebrations, Golden Rentals at 711 Harrisburg Pike in Dillsburg is busier than ever. In addition to attending to an increasing number of orders, owners David and Holly Kelley are planning a two-day celebration in honor of the 20th anniversary of the local business.
The celebration, featuring vendors, food trucks and prizes, will be held at the business on Friday, April 5 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, April 6 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Twenty years ago, when the Kelleys started the equipment rental business, they offered just the basics in home and garden tools. “When we started out, we had about the same amount of tools as someone would have in a decent garage at home,” co-owner David Kelley said. “Now we have grown to [having] over $1 million in inventory,” he added.
