Members of the Dillsburg American Legion, Post 26, get ready to head to the VA Hospital on Thursday morning, Dec. 15 in a four-car caravan packed full of bags and boxes of clothing, snacks, games and personal items as part of the project "Help a Vet, take a bag."
Over 1,000 items were delivered to 18 families and 50 children in the Northern York County School District on Wednesday, Dec. 20 as part of "The Giving Tree" project sponsored by the American Legion Post 26 of Dillsburg and chaired by Mary Riley for the past 15 years.
“It was a real challenge this year,” Riley said. “With the prices going up it was a little tougher getting the items we wanted. We made sure all the children received coats. Other items collected were shoes, socks, shirts, gloves, toys and enough food to have a good meal to celebrate Christmas.”
