Sunny skies and a moderate temperature for the first day of August brought a steady stream of more than 2,000 visitors of all ages to Logan Park for the annual National Night Out celebration Tuesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.

“This is probably the biggest year we've ever had,” organizer John Shapley of the Carroll Township Police Department said. “I always over-order the food, but this year, we ran out of hot dogs,” the officer said. This is Shapley's fifth year in charge of the event.

Officer Shapley gave a special shout-out to the township road crew who were busy with the set-up and tear-down for the event. The road crew was also responsible for traffic control.

When the event got underway with the playing of the National Anthem, the line for the food was already past the barn. The line moved quickly as community leaders served the public with hotdogs, macaroni and cheese, baked beans and pizza. After eating dinner, many children raced to get in line at the Kona Ice food truck to get a cool, shaved ice treat.

A popular archery store in Wellsville is under new ownership and has new name.

Young entrepreneurs Zack Barber, 29, and Kyle Moody, 32, signed papers to purchase Bowhunters Superstore, 1045 Zeigler Rd., Wellsville, and changed the name to Bowhunters Superstore - Pro Shop on Dec. 9, 2022.

Moody explained that the store started as a catalog business in 1975 and quickly became America’s favorite archery store, eventually, purchasing its current location.

The former owners still own the Bowhunterssuper store.com e-commerce website and wanted to close the physical location but Barber and Moody, being “avid hunters,” wanted to give the store one more shot, Moody said.
