Lo Vasco’s: New owner, new bar, new outdoor dining
Lo Vasco’s Ristorante Italiano, 7487 Carlisle Rd., Rossville, has recently made changes.
Vito Serradella is now the owner, making it his fifth restaurant in central Pennsylvania.
He said the old Lo Vasco’s looks “needed some love,” so they “refreshed the place.” There is now a full service bar inside serving a vari- ety of handmade Pennsylvania brews and wines, including selections brewed by Serradella himself. There is also new seating for customers both inside and out.
To celebrate summer, Lo Vasco’s is serving ice cream. Flavors include chocolate, vanilla, straw- berry, cookies and cream, and chocolate chip mint.
While Friday tends to be the busiest day of the week, a few hundred customers patron the restaurant each day. Lo Vasco’s is now open on Mondays. Customers are welcome every day of the week to come enjoy the authenticity of the food. The fan favorite pizza is Grandma’s Pizza, which loyal employee Sebastian Lopez believes quickly rose to fame after “some customers ate, like it and told others.”

Funding for upcoming projects discussed

Chris Caba, from the York County Planning Commission's Transportation section, spoke to Washington Township supervisors about the road funds that will be available over the next years. He asked supervisors for their input on roads and bridges that need repairs or safety improvements.
Caba told the three-member panel that the county will be working on 116 projects over the next four years, at a total cost of $192 million. Of that money, $48 million is for new projects; the rest of the money goes to projects that are allocated to multi-year projects already in progress, including several bridge projects that can take six years to complete. Some of the money can be allocated for safety improvements. A resident asked about improvements to Route 15 through Dillsburg and was told that to put a cloverleaf or interchange there to reduce congestion was estimated at $160 million. Blind intersections on Route 194 were also mentioned as needing safety improvements
In other activity at the June 19 meeting, supervisors learned they could restrict trucks over 45 feet to roads without an engineering survey. Supervisors made no decision at this session, but indicated they were considering that move on Bermudian Church and Big Mount roads. Chair Dan McGregor noted that there are “no businesses back on Bermudian Church Road, so trucks have no need to be there.” Solicitor Sharon Myers said supervisors would need to docu-ment why restricting truck traffic on those roads was needed in case it was ever challenged.

At Range End Golf Club this weekend, Saturday, July 8, the Range End Men’s Association (REMA) event schedule continues with the annual Red-White-Blue Tournament. The Point Quota follows on Saturday, July 22. Additional events this summer and fall: Bill McCurdy Mixed Two- Man, Saturday/Sunday, August 12 - 13; Gross/Net, Sunday, August 27; Bowman Two-Day Net, Saturday/Sunday, Sept. 23- 24; and REMA Cup Matches, Saturday/ Sunday, Oct. 7-8.
If the competition in the District 14 Tournament field can't find an answer for red-hot Dillsburg, there's a really good chance we'll see the home- town boys once again rais- ing a championship ban- ner. Two Dillsburg Youth Baseball squads -- the 8-10 and Majors all-stars -- kept their undefeated seasons alive by rolling through their respective final pool play games.
