Members of the Northern York County Fire Rescue and the Scott McClintock family gather together on Thursday.
The Dillsburg community shows support for former fire chief
Members of the Dillsburg community and numerous organizations have been encouraging the Scott and Jamey McClintock family for the past week.
Scott is the former fire chief of Northern York County Fire Rescue and Citizens Hose Co. No. 1 of Dillsburg.
Scott’s health has recently declined.
“We are so grateful for the opportunity for Scott to hear for himself the impact that he has made in our community,” Jamey told the Banner on Thursday, June 22. “These difficult circumstances are made easier by the love that been shown by the firefighting brotherhood, police, sports teams and community support. We are blessed beyond measure. Thank you is not enough.”
Jamey posted to social media earlier in the week that Scott experienced a series of strokes, which lead to a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer which spread to his liver and lungs. “Shockingly, he has been sent home in the care of hospice with the realization that his body would not withstand chemo. Although we continue to pray for healing, without God's intervention, he will most likely succumb to another, growing stroke,” read the post.
Members of the Northern York County Fire Rescue, Carroll Township Police Department and the PA Networking Group of the National Fire Academy paid a visit to Scott and his family at their Franklin Township home on Thursday.

PIAA Champions: Northern High School wins State Softball title!
PIAA State Champions. It has a nice ring to it. Freshman Sabrina Paulin's walk off single helped to score Northern High School's winning run to cap last Saturday's PIAA Class 5A Softball State Championship in State College. On a 2-2 count, Paulin punched a single to short center field to score Sammy Magee in the bot- tom of the ninth inning and give the varsity Lady Polar Bears a thrilling 3-2 win over Shaler Area High School. It was the first softball state title in Northern program history.
The District III Champion Lady Polar Bear squad (24-4) cruised through the initial rounds of the state championships with victories over Hatboro-Horsham (13-0 in the First round), Upper Dublin (10-0 in the Quarterfinal) and Abington Heights (4-1 in the Semi- final). They met their match against the Shaler Lady Titans (22-2) as the teams were tied 2-2 after seven innings. The ninth inning drama and Northern victory established one of the all- time great moments in Northern High School sports history. Sophomore pitching ace Sammy Magee struck out seven batters and allowed five hits and two runs in the extended game of the two best Class 5A teams in the state of Pennsylvania. Shaler ace Bria Bosiljevac struck out 12 batters in the loss. Tayler Yoder, Sabrina Paulin, Hailey Irwin, Sammy Magee, Hannah Keith, Jessie Li and Kiera O'Brine all had one hit apiece to lead the Lady Polar Bears. Jessie Li's two RBIs were also pivotal in Northern's road to victory.
“Our main message to the girls throughout this postseason was to stick together, have each other's backs and have fun with it,” said head coach Emily Quatrale. “I think their abil- ity to stay loose, pick each other up and just play our game was the key to this run.”
