Staff reports
Despite a soggy start and a slight drizzle throughout the day, this year’s Pickle Fest was well attended.
More than 50 vendors lined both sides Greenbriar Lane from Harrisburg Pike to Baltimore Street from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday May 13 for the annual Picklefest sponsored this year by the newly formed Dillsburg Community Association.
“I was pleasantly surprised how many turned out, despite the weather,” said Dave Kelley, president of the DCA. An early morning downpour cleared by 10 a.m., turning into a slight drizzle on and off throughout the day.

the status of the stormwater basins in Memphord Estates. The public meeting would come after the York County Stormwater Consortium acts in August on a funding proposal from Monaghan for a portion of the needed repairs.
Of the three basins in the development, only one of them appears to be of primary concern. Access to that basin is difficult, and removing trees and fixing the outflow there may require building a road to the basin so heavy equipment can work there. Although Monaghan has an easement to the basin, that was said by the engineer not to be sufficient for this level of repair and maintenance, as equipment can’t get down there safely. Also, the area needs to be regraded and sediment or dirt removed.
Complicating the situation is that no one appears to own that section of land. It was supposed to be maintained by a homeowner’s association, but that was never instituted. One option the township is investigating is eminent domain of the parcel, but before that the land must be surveyed and an appraisal done. That state’s stormwater regulations, called MS4, require that the township ensures the basin is working properly, and to do that road access for the equipment will be needed.
