If a tree falls in Dillsburg ... it will boom

A homeowner got an unexpected surprise when a neighbor’s century old tree fell onto her home.

“I think it was decayed and it finally got too heavy and it just broke in half,” Sally Baldwin, 62, who is the owner of the house the tree fell onto said. “The neighbors all heard it and they thought it was a bomb.”

Baldwin was at the post office Monday morning at the time of the fall. She says the storms from over the weekend could have weakened the tree, making it too heavy to stand up.

Her home at 228 S. Baltimore St. has minimal damage, only seeing a bend in the roof and tearing of the backyard window screens.
