Northern High School holds graduation

Two hundred forty-two Northern High School students received their high school diplomas during the 68th annual Commencement held at Christian Life Assembly, Camp Hill on June 4.
Senior Class President Kayla Swope gave the welcoming address, Valedictorian Charles Humpertand Salutatorian Olivia Falck gave commencement addresses.
Principal Steven Lehman, Jr. presented the Class of 2019 and Superintendent Dr. Eric Eshbach accepted the class. Members of the school board handed out the diplomas.
Class Officers: President, Kayla Swope; VicePresident, Morgan Landis; Secretary, Aunna Rubacha and Treasurer, Cora Bubb. Advisor is Marcia Bucher.

Polar Bears honored

At the Northern H.S. Baseball team awards banquet held last Sunday, June 2, the Polar Bears celebrated the 2019 season under first-year Head Coach Jake Warner and veteran assistant Jim Shultz. Warner, a former Northern standout,was at the helm of the squad that finished 15-6 overall and 11-3 in the MidPenn Capital Division.
Eddie Ensor was named MVP and Most Valuable Pitcher. Cameron Kearns earned the Unsung Hero Award. Isaac Staats won the Sportsmanship Award and Most Valuable Pitcher. Dan Leitholf was also named Most Valuable Pitcher and Ian Budzinski won the Coaches Award. Tyler Yohn won the Silver Slugger Award. Also winning Most Valuable Pitcher awards: Peyton Merovich, Blake Markwood and Thomas Molsky.
Kirk Patti earned his third-year letter for the Polar Bears. Second year varsity letter winners included: Cameron Kearns, Daniel Leitholf, Isaac Staats, Cameron Dick, Ian Budzinski, Peyton Merovich, and Eddie Ensor. First year letter winners included: Bryce Andrews, Noah Hayes, Luke Horvath, Blake Markwood, Samuel Wareham, Tyler Yohn, Jaiten Holford, Tanner Merovich, Aiden Sherman, Alec Welshans and Thomas Molsky. Named to the 2019 Mid Penn Capital Division All-Star First Team was junior Eddie Ensor (Pitcher/OF). Second Team All Stars included: junior Tyler Yohn (Shortstop) and sophomore Aiden Sherman (Designated Hitter/OF).
