Franklintown Borough Council underwent a change of personnel as members accepted the resignation of Barry Hockley from the council and then appointed Brian Crespo to finish his term in office.
Hockley also resigned from the Franklintown Municipal Authority and Crespo was appointed to fill that spot as well. Hockley's letters of resignation offered no reason for his resignation.
An amendment to the borough's subdivision and land development ordinance took a sstep forward as council authorized it to be advertised as required by the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Code.
This amendment should fix a requirement that any addition of an impervious surface no matter how small, requires a stormwater management plan. These plans must be done by an engineer and can be expensive. The amendment, if passed, will waive this requirement for surfaces less than 1,000 square feet. The flaw in the original ordinance came to light as the new codes officer attempted to issue building permits for a parking pad and a shed.
