Carroll Township supervisors announced that next week's regular meeting will contain their annual MS4 update and required educational presentation. The Municipal Separate Stormwater Sewer System (MS4) is a program mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency and administered through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection to assure that contaminants do not get into Pennsylvania waterways and down to the Chesapeake Bay.
Township engineer Phil Brath encouraged everyone to either attend the meeting or watch their cable broadcast to learn what the township has accomplished over the last year and what the township will need to do to satisfy new regulations setforth by DEP for the new year.
Other discussions during Monday's workshop meeting included a report from Supervisor Kelley Moyer-Schwille that talks were being set up with PennDOT to discuss ways to make the intersection of Route 15 at Golf Course/Range End roads safer. State Representative Dawn Keefer is coordinating the effort. An accident last fall that resulted in two fatalities brought renewed awareness to the dangerous conditions at that intersection.
Carroll Township Police Chief Tom Wargo told supervisors that a $20,000 license plate reader was on the wish list for his department. This revelation came when Supervisor Rich Rocco asked if he had ever considered getting one.

Making their mark in the post season, the Northern H.S. Swimming and Diving teams competed with a mission at the District III, Class AA Championships last weekend. In the two-day meet hosted by Cumberland Valley H.S., the Girls team scored 233 points, along with Arabella Sheriff's diving points. However, Schuylkill Valley's speed and depth proved to be too much and the Lady Polar Bears finished in 2nd place for their second year in a row.
The Northern Boys team scored a total of 141 points and finished in 6th Place, achieving their 2018-19 team goal of finishing in 9th place or better. That's the best team finish and points by a Northern Boys Swimming and Diving team since 2014.
