Carroll Township supervisors took the firststep toward the possible expansion of Chestnut Park when they authorized staff to contact appraisal companies to get valuations on the other corners of the intersection of Chestnut Grove and Ridge roads.

This move was prompted when they learned of agrant offered by the Pennsylvania Departmentof Conservation and Natural Resources for land acquisition. Applications for the grant must be submitted in April. In other business, Police Chief Tom Wargo reported that he had several applications to start the process to hire more parttime officers for the Carroll Township Police force.

This is needed to help alleviateover-time in thedepartment. After a short discussion, supervisors set the salaryfor those positions at $22per hour. Carroll Townshipis currently paying $16 perhour. A survey taken ofother departments in thearea by Supervisor RichRocco revealed that wagesfor similar positions werebetween $20 and $26 perhour.
