There was something for everyone at the Tuesday National Night Out celebration in Logan Park. Good food, an ample variety of prizes, informative exhibits and booths, and a few games for the children satisfied those who braved the heat and humidity of the summer evening.
The annual event, held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., was sponsored by the Carroll Township Police Department and the Dillsburg Area Business Association (DABA). As in past years, the main feature was a family-style cookout featuring hamburgers, hotdogs, potato and macaroni salads, baked mac and cheese, Little Caesar’s pizza, chips and cookies. Community leaders from Carroll and Monaghan Townships, Dillsburg Borough, and members of the police department helped to cook and serve the food.
Residents wait patiently for the raffle hosted by DABA to get underway following the family-style cookout where each visitor received a ticket to enter in the raffle. Hundreds of prizes were given away, including the biggest hit, the bicycles. Photo by Curt Werner/Dillsburg Banner.

The driver of a tractor trailer travelling southbound on Route 15 lost control, flipping his rig onto its side between the York Springs and Heidlersburg exits, blocking both lanes Tuesday, August 1 at 7:04 a.m. The trailer contained 34,000 pounds of frozen foods. No injuries were reported. Heidlersburg Fire Company, York Springs Fire Company, fire police from York and Adams counties and Pa. State Police were on the scene. A long stretch of guard rail was also destroyed, impaling the rear end of the tractor trailer. The southbound lanes of the highway were shut down and northbound traffic was reduced to one lane for several hours. In photo, rescue crews inspect damage to the back of the tractor trailer and the guardrail. Photo by Curt Werner/Dillsburg Banner.
