National Night Out

The Carroll Township Police Department is once again hosting the annual National Night Out celebration, to be held on Tuesday, August 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Logan Park, located on Logan Road in Carroll Township. Officers from CTPD will be serving an old-time family-style cookout, free to the public, as well as demonstrations and exhibits by local emergency services.

National Night Out is a nationwide event held each year on the first Tuesday of August. The concept of NNO is to promote crime prevention within the community and to take back our streets from criminals and drug dealers, in an effort to enhance safety for families by heightening community awareness about combating crime and drugs. Together, police and community can create a strong neighborhood spirit to combat these problems.

Justin Lamason overcame a rocky start to distance himself from the field in winning the 2017 Range End Golf Club Men's Club Championship over the June 24-25 weekend. The former Northern H.S. multi-sport standout earned his first Range End Club A Flight Championship with a two day total of 144. Matt Davis, another former Polar Bear linkster, shot 147 for second place. Lamason started the opening round with a 40 and was six over par as he stood on the ninth tee. From there, he went birdie, birdie (10), eagle (11), par (12), birdie (13) and birdie (14). Two bogies (16 and 18) heading back to the clubhouse made a little dent in a well-earned 73. On Sunday, Lamason's round featured no drama, just solid, steady golf as he shot 36-35=71 and claimed the title.
