Wellsville Frontier Days

Gates opened at 11 a.m. for the Wellsville Frontier Days’ annual Memorial Day Rodeo, May 29.

The dismal day and wet arena could not dampen the spirits of the participants or crowd.

The rodeo started at noon with pole bending, barrel racing, steer wrestling, and several styles of roping - ribbon, breakaway, calf and team. Bull riding topped off the day’s activities. A calf scramble for children up to age 12 was held during intermission.

“It has been a pleasure being the mayor of the borough. I wanted to fulfill my four-year term, but I have decided to retire professionally. I am ready to move into a different career - working for my wife,” he said.

Miller's Auto had every reason to believe it was going to lose the Dillsburg Youth Baseball Minors championship game at Ryder Field on Saturday night. Jason Young's team just had to look across the field at the regular-season champion and No. 1 seed Kampel Enterprises, Inc.

Not only did KEI boast the league's top scoring offense, it also defeated Miller's Auto twice during the regular season.
