Motorists who ignore road sign cold be up the creek

Washington Township Supervisor Dan McGregor reported people are ignoring signs about the closing of the Creek Road and Rte. 194 intersection, only to discover they need to turn around and find another route. McGregor, who lives along Creek Road, reports half a dozen such incidents on just one day. People apparently think “local traffic only” means locals can still access the intersection, but that is not the case.

McGregor reported at the February 20 supervisors’ session that he contacted local emergency services to discuss possible redistribution of calls due to the 18-month proposed intersection closure, and he reported the personnel were aware of the situation and had already made changes to go around or avoid the area. Residents still worry that large trucks that ignore the signs could get stuck on smaller roads or when attempting to turn around. One sign was already moved so trucks could exit before reaching a smaller road where turning around might be problematic.
