Santa Claus and his helpers spent several days listening to Christmas wishes of youngsters in the area
Paige and Logan Davenport visit Santa at the American Legion Post 26 on Saturday Dec. 10 during their breakfast with Santa. Two sessions were held, one at 8:30 a.m and another at 10 a.m., with a total of 230 children and adults attending.

On October 16, Sarah Miller Coulson, of Bryn Mawr, began her term as the 22nd regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies Association, becoming the third woman from Pennsylvania to serve in this honorable position. Established in 1853, the MVLA is a not for profit organization that owns and operates the North Virginia home of George Washington.
"I am honored to accept this position and humbled to follow in the footsteps of the Ladies who have served this institution so remarkably since 1853," said Coulson, according to a news release from the ladies association. "As regent, I, along with a dedicated board and talented leadership, will continue to advance the mission of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association to protect and preserve the estate of George Washington, and to ensure that his legacy endures and thrives."

Northern H.S. swimmers and divers opened the 2016-17 league season in style last Thursday, Dec. 15, as they swept East Pennsboro. In their Mid Penn Colonial Division opener, the Girls team won 133-47 while the Boys team came away with a 115-46 win. The Polar Bears recorded 45 career best times/scores and nine career first times. They also posted three in season best times, 10 marks that were faster on the same day last year and one diving score higher than a year ago. Both teams are now 1-2 overall and 1-0 in the Colonial. As the Banner went to press, Northern had their second league match-up slated for Tuesday, Dec. 20 when they were to host Big Spring H.S.
In the Girls 200-Yard Medley Relay, the team of Lauren Eby, Abigail Soerens, Katelyn Boyce and Alexa Byers clocked 2:04.92 for first place. Placing third was the quartet comprised of Hayley keys, Evangeline Soerens, Mary Secord and Ashlyn Stonge (2:15.87). In the Boys 200 Medley Relay, Nick Catalano, Zach Chavey, Shawn Cutright and Ben Graham clocked 2:02.67 for second place. Taking third was the team of TJ Archuleta, Aric Graham, Chris Nase and Cam Albert (2:08.24).
Levi Basom placed second in the Boys 200-Yard IM with a time of 2:26.13.

"We've got some work to do."
With two tournaments and two dual meets on the books, that's the assessment Northern Wrestling Coach Josh Murray is giving his Polar Bears squad. Murray also acknowledged that his youthful team is showing heart in the season's early stages.
The results support both of Murray's claims.
Northern is 2-0 after opening its season with a come-from-behind 47-27 win over Mid-Penn Keystone Division opponent CD East on Thursday and a 64-18 win over Hershey on Tuesday.
