What appeared to be a rattelsnake hanging on a tree limb behind a fireman caused quite a stir after our photographer, Curt Werner, posted the photo online. Werner thought the snake was real. After much speculation on Facebook and a few phone calls, we discovered the snake was fake.
York Springs Fire Chief Alfred Leer said he did notice the snake, and since he is not particularly fond of them, he immediatly did an assessment. Based upon where it was hanging, near a grape arbor, he determined the snake to some type of blow up decory. He later found out that the homeowner put the snake there to scare away birds.
