A crowd gathers around the Christmas Tree on the Dillsburg square to officially herald in the holiday season. After the tree lighting, everyone was invited to the library for cookies, hot cocoa and cider. Children lined the entire length of the library to get their chance to whisper into Santa’s ear what they wanted for Christmas.

The Franklintown borough council announced it had received a block grant to pay for the engineering costs to develop a five-year plan for street repairs and improvements. Seven qualifying packages were received from engineers who want to do the work. A committee comprised of councilmen Barry Hockley, Tony Vasco, and Mayor Jim Adams, will narrow it down to three. Then interviews will be conducted before they make their recommendation to the council.

Lady Polar Bears post first win

Northern's Alyssa Swartz is fouled going strong to the basket in first quarter action against Littlestown.
On Friday, Dec. 4, the Northern Lady Polar Bears fell to Littlestown 23 to 15 in the 27th annual Girls Basketball Tip-Off Tournament held at the Northern High School.
____Displaying some tough defense and more offensive spark, Northern upset Bermudian Springs 29-24 in last Saturday's consolation game of the 27th Annual Northern Tip-Off Tournament. It was a complete turnaround from the opening game loss against Littlestown and it was the first win of the new season for the Lady Polar Bears.
