____ Volunteers were busy over the weekend decorating the Christmas tree on the Dillsburg square, getting it ready for the Tree Lighting Ceremony this Friday at 7 p.m., sponsored by the Dillsburg Area Business Association. A special visit by Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus in the antique Dillsburg fire truck is expected to be the highlight of the evening. As in years past, Dillsburg resident Jay Young will amuse youngsters with a Christmas story and Dillsburg Mayor Wendell Hollinger will light the tree.

New Varsity Head Basketball Coach Kyle McGill instructs a player.
____ New Head Coach Kyle McGill and the Northern H.S. boys' basketball team open the 2015-16 season this upcoming weekend at Northeastern H.S. Solanco and Red Lion are the other schools competing in the two-day tournament.
____ McGill is a familiar face in local basketball as a junior high coach and also elementary school coordinator in the YMCA recreation league. The Rochester, New York native was a three-year starter at Livonia H.S. and continued to play inter collegiately at Ithaca College as a three-year starting point guard.
____ "We are looking forward to a new beginning for Northern Boys Basketball," said McGill back in July when he was named head coach. "We have a goal to create a community-supported basketball program that will produce a fun and exciting brand of basketball and look forward to creating a consistent string of successful basketball seasons over the next several years."
____ Bryn Violette is the varsity assistant coach and Pat Hicks will be the JV coach. Tim Colgan is the freshman team head coach and Jeff Kearns in the assistant coach. The junior high varsity head coach is Brian Griffie and the junior high JV head coach is Shane Myers.
Northern's regular season games begin on the road at Boiling Springs next Tuesday, Dec. 8. JV tip-off is at 6 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7:30 p.m.
