Five or six cats are believed to have perished in a mobile home fire around 8:17 a.m. on the corner of Mt. Airy and Sanderson Drive in Warrington Township. A neighbor claimed she saw smoke in the kitchen area believing that's where the fire originated. Nobody was home when the incident occurred. Samuel Geiser dives for extra yardage in last Friday’s 20-13 loss against Greencastle.

____Northern traveled to Greencastle last Friday night but the Blue Devils prevailed with some late game drama. The final score: 20-13.
____With the loss, the Polar Bears fell to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the Division. And Greencastle improved to 2-3 and 1-1.

Northern Field Hockey team rights the ship

Northern's Keighly Adams is surrounded by Milton Hershey players as she races to the ball.

____Boyer’s Bunch had quite a target on their backs after storming undefeated and untied through the first half of the divisional schedule and reaching a lofty #6 in the initial PIAA District 3 rankings. Camp Hill was the first repeat challenger to take aim at the leaders. Contrary to the Bishop McDevitt game, this was one in which the stats did indeed lie. The Lions only managed 7 shots and did not generate a single corner. Conversely, the Bears launched 21 shots while forcing 23 corners. Unfortunately, the single stat that matters is the score and the home team ended up on the short end of a 3-1 final. Devon Hake recorded the only Northern goal in a statistically anomalous game which resulted in a second straight defeat. The Bears ended a 5 game regular season homestand 4 and 1.
____The loss to Camp Hill certainly made things much more interesting in the race for the Capital Division. Additionally, the Bears were trying to shake off the effects of an apparent PennLive Interview jinx, which seems the most rational explanation for 2 straight losses, when they travelled for the rematch with West Perry. In a game characterized by massive ebbs and flows, Northern got on the board first at 15:43. Brooke Sheibley’s drive from the top of the circle (after her self- start travelled approximately a gnat’s eyelash longer than the required 5 meters from the 21) struck gold. A 1-0 lead at half seemed an extremely slim margin indeed when the Mustangs galloped out of the break and controlled the play for the first 16 minutes of the second half. A timely right toe save from Haley Mowery at the 44 minute mark gave the visitors a chance to re-group and Devon made it pay off 46 seconds later to extend the lead. A little over 3 minutes later, Renee Weigel gave the Northern faithful a chance to breathe a little easier when she notched her 4th of the season resulting in an insurmountable 3 goal edge. Renee was assisted by Keighly Adams. West Perry ended the Bears’ shutout bid with a goal at 56:27 but it was too little too late as the Purple and White earned the 3-1 victory in what may have been their most complete performance of the season against a formidable foe.
