____
On Saturday, July 20, Paulus Orchards held their first Blueberry Festival.
____There was much to do for all ages. The morning began with blueberry pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. “We sold one hundred and thirty advance tickets and an additional one hundred plus showed up for breakfast.” said Karen Paulus. “The turnout was great and we were able to donate $750.00 to the Ronald McDonald House.”
____After breakfast it was a short walk to pick blueberries. Some picked the blueberries as a family. Gabriel Hughes, 14 months, could not wait to reach into the white bucket and taste the blueberries that were just picked.
____There were several play areas for children. One popular area was the race track for the four wheel go-carts powered by leg power. There were also slides and swings for the children. A log cabin had local crafts for sale. Later in the morning, the band “Jazz Me” performed.
____A nice new addition to the Paulus Orchards on Mt. Airy Road is a enclosed white tent with butterflies making a butterfly house. Inside there is monarch, painted lady, question mark and swallowtail butterflies. This will be open until mid-September.

Pictured from left, seated are Nathan Phipps, Mason Yohn, John Noll, Brandon Keeney; kneeling, Jack Phipps, Dillen Rubacha, Nathan Harlacker, Dawson Ramp; standing, Jacob Ham, Owen Kitts, Blake Markwood, Alec Walsham, in back, assistant coach Joel Yohn, head coach Preston Repman and assistant coach Kyle Ramp.

____There's no doubt about it, the 9-10 Little League state team put together by Dillsburg was one of the best in the mid-state.
____The group, managed by Rob Holford, won a District 14 championship and clobbered teams from all around the area in the process.
____But this year's success does not guarantee a spot on next year's state team, especially when considering the strength and depth of the Dillsburg Youth Baseball league.
____There is a group of hungry and talented 9-10 year-old boys in Dillsburg that could very well challenge the 'A' team for jobs next season.
____Dillsburg's 9-10 Clarence Boyd Tournament team, managed by Preston Repman, dismantled every opponent it faced in the tournament, posting a 5-0 record while outscoring the opposition 77-14.
____Repman's squad capped off its tournament run with a 14-0 blowout win over Spring Grove in the CBT championship game on July 25.
____"We had a good group of players and parents who all bought in to what we were trying to accomplish," Repman said. "We got 125 percent out of the kids, whether it was at practice or during the games."
____Dillsburg was rock-solid in pool play with wins by rout over Bermudian (19-3) and Gettysburg (11-1).
____Repman's squad moved on to the double-elimination championship bracket and pasted York City 19-3 in the quarterfinals before earning a 14-7 victory over Spring Grove in the semifinals.

NYAC swimmers dominate meet
By Andy Sandrik

____
The Northern York Aquatic Club has proven itself as a group to be reckoned with.
____The NYAC turned in a dominant perfomance at Saturday's Mid-Cap Swimming Championships, held at the Hershey Recreation Center.
____On the strength of 16 first-place finishes, more than any other team, the NYAC finished second out of 37 teams with 1,160.5 points, just behind champion Hershey (1,246).
____As many good performances as there were at the championships, the highlight for the NYAC was the four records the team broke.
____The most eye-opening performance came from the boys 15 & over 200 medley relay group of Liam Handley, Shane Hallett, Jack Brenneman and Seth Wenner, who teamed up to finish the race in 1:35.72. The group annihilated the meet record of 1:37.51, established by the West Shore YMCA (WSY) in 1991.
____Brenneman moved on to break an individual record, blazing through the 50 butterfly in 22.67 to break his own record of 23.18, set in 2011, as well as the Hershey Rec Center pool record of 22.70 established by Hershey's Vinny Tafuto earlier this month.
