____Leer Electric, Inc. is built upon four inherent values that unify every employee: quality, education, versatility, and communication. These guiding principles empower the company to partner with their clients to fulfill their goals. Thanks to the Dillsburg community and its customers, Leer Electric has gone through tremendous change and expansion. Owner, Steve Leer has always promoted innovative ideas and forward thinking. Leer maintains a family-owned atmosphere in the office, and as a result of this, Steve has successfully groomed this small electrical contracting business to become one of the biggest electrical contractors in Central Pennsylvania.____
____“When I got out of tech school I went to work for AMP Incorporated, an environmental test facility. I worked there a few years, and then I went to Pittsburgh Plate Glass when they opened their plant and received some training on how big businesses work,” Steve began. “My dad had a gas station on Route 15, and I pumped a lot of gas over the years. I got to know a lot of people,” he said. One customer was Vance Seibert. Vance, known to everyone as Jerry, had the only electrical business the Dillsburg.
____One day, Vance decided it was time to retire. He was good friends with Steve’s dad and asked him if he thought his son would be interested in the business. “Jerry knew that I went to a technical school and had an electrical background, and I thought it was worth a try,” said Steve. “Jerry had one employee at the time, Merle Cook. So, I went and had a talk with Merle and asked him if he would come along with the business if I decided to buy it, and he said he would.” Jerry and Steve negotiated a deal and soon Leer purchased the business. He started with one electrical panel truck and Merle. “I worked very closely with Merle to learn the ropes of the electrical business, and that’s how we started,” smiled Steve.

Staff Sgt. Tim Payne and Stefan LeRoy at the start of the Dillsburg Honor Ride on June 15.
____ Early Saturday morning, June 15, approximately 50 bicycle riders and 20 motorcycle riders assembled at the Dillsburg Legion for the 2013 Dillsburg Honor Ride sponsored by the Ride 2 Recovery. The purpose of the 50-mile ride was to help raise money to make a difference in the lives of America's wounded soldiers.
____ Staff Sgt. Tim Payne lost both of his legs from a IED (improvised explosive device) while serving in Afghanistan. He made the trip along with Stefan LeRoy who also lost his legs in battle. The specially made three wheel cycle made the trip possible using the strength from the rider’s hands and arms to power the bike. A long bar sticks up on the back of the bike that can be pushed by other bicyclists in case help is needed while going up steep hills.
____ Carroll Township Police stopped traffic on Route 15 for safe crossing. The local fire police from Dillsburg and Franklintown fire companies made sure traffic from the side streets was stopped. Latimore Township Police stayed ahead of the ride the entire 50 miles along with the Legion Riders, making sure everything would go smoothly.
Waving the American flag, a crowd cheers on the bicyclists during the honor ride.
