Arrest warrant issued

____A warrant for the arrest of Bryan Brackbill was issued Monday afternoon by Carroll Township Police for the murder of Sandra Mulder, 52, of 204 Chestnut Grove Road.
____Brackbill is charged with criminal homicide, theft of a motor vehicle and unlawful restraints. Police belief Brackbill has fled out of the state, possibly to Indianapolis. "He is armed and particularly dangerous," Kapfhammer said. He is known to be driving a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix with the license plate number GKP1303.
____According to the affidavit, police officers found Mulder's body laying face down on a downstairs bedroom floor, already decomposing. Pink duck tape was used to bind her hands behind her back and her legs bound together. The call was dispatched at 12:20 p.m. on June 2.
____An autopsy performed Monday morning revealed "no conclusive evidence pending the cause of the death," York County Coroner Barry Bloss said this afternoon. Mulder died sometime between 1:00 a.m. Saturday morning and noon Saturday. "We did not find trauma on the body and that is why we cannot determine that exact cause of death at this time," Bloss said. She was last seen alive at 1:00 a.m. he said.
____Police are "very optimistic" they will find Brackbill. He may be running low on funds, may not have a lot of contacts in that area and he is operating a stolen car, Kapfhammer said. There are multiple marshal services and squads working the Indianapolis area.
____Police said no motive for the crime has been establish but Brackbill does have a criminal record and was currently on house arrest; he cut off the ankle monitor before fleeing. Police noted there have been calls to the residence in the past, but did not have details at this time.
____Brackbill was a roomate of Mulder's and had been living there for possibly a year. His date of birth is June 27, 1980.
____Friends and relatives, alarmed that they had not heard from Sandy, initially found the body; entering the house through a window, Chief said.

The name of the deceased, Sandra Smith Mulder, 52, was released Monday morning. Kapfhammer said the body was found by a family member and a friend.
____York County Coroner Barry Bloss said last night that an autopsy will be performed Monday morning at 10 a.m. and hopefully at that time they will be able to determine cause of death and manner. No details were available last night.
Bloss said they had not determined the time of death yet.
____Bloss did say someone else was "living there was staying there at times."
____"It's very early on in the investigation and we haven't named a suspect yet," Kapfhammer said last night, adding "No one in this immediate area has anything to fear."
____A friend of the family said she last spoke to the victim Friday night at 9:30 p.m.
____A neighbor, Tracy Geist, said she hadn't seen Sandy or her dogs at all on Saturday, noting that it was very quiet all day. "I always look for the pitbulls" she said, when she takes her two black labs outside.
____There was "constant arguing, swearing and loudness" coming from the house, Geist said. She said her neighbor heard arguing Friday night.
____Sandy's car, a blue-green sedan, was not in the driveway and her roommate was not at home.
____Patolmen Ron Stiles and Ben Martin were the first to arrive at the scene. The York County Forensic Investigation Unit and Carroll Township Police are in charge of the investigation, Kapfhammer said. The forensic team left the scene around 9 p.m.

Memorial Day
Messages are important for all generations

By Erica Smithson

Doug Tutich, senior vice commander of the Dillsburg VFW, salutes the American flag in front of the Dillsburg Fire Hall after placing a wreath at the foot of the soldier’s memorial. The parade, which began at the post home on Second Street, proceeded down S. Baltimore Street to the Dillsburg Cemetery, S. Mountain Road.

____Celebration of Memorial Day takes many forms. Some see the holiday as the unofficial start of summer; a day to enjoy the warm weather with food and festivities. Others use the time to visit family and host reunions and other get-togethers. Many more will take time out of their day to watch their local Memorial Day parade to see servicemen in uniform, bands playing patriotic melodies, planes flying overhead and floats going by representing each branch of the military.
____Watching the parade is how Thomas MacSkimming remembers the Memorial Days of his youth. In his opening remarks during Monday’s services in Dillsburg Cemetery, the Dillsburg VFW Post Commander remembered his parents urging him to pay attention as the American flag passed and reflect on how that made him feel. Even at an early age, MacSkimming’s parents impressed upon him that you are never too young to celebrate Memorial Day as a tribute to fallen veterans and a remembrance of the sacrifices that veterans and their families, past and present, have made so that we can continue to enjoy our freedom.
____If there is a notion that today’s youth don’t care about Memorial Day because they think it is only about honoring veterans of some long ago wars, that is simply not true. If Dillsburg’s parade and memorial services are any indication, it is more likely that these children have parents much like MacSkimming’s, imparting the same wisdom of the importance of Memorial Day on them as they did on him.
