A group of neighbors look down from the embankment at a pick up truck that landed on its side after loosing control going around a sharp curve in the 800 block of Franklin Church Road, Washington Township at about 6:04 p.m. Franklintown Fire Company, Dillsburg Ambulance, Dillsburg and Franklintown fire police and Pennsylvania State Police were on the scene. No one was seriously injured.

Stephen Cosey, who has served as the assistant chief deputy coroner for the past 15 years is running for the office of coroner.
____Stephen Cosey, who has served as the assistant chief deputy coroner for the past 15 years is running for the office of coroner.
____York County Coroner Barry L. Bloss is retiring from office. Cosey, 57, who has lived for more than 50 years in the Dillsburg area said for 35 years, he worked as a respiratory therapist for the Carlisle Regional Medical Center. A 1973 graduate of Northern High School, Cosey obtained his respiratory therapy certification from Harrisburg Area Community College.
____Cosey, a Republican, has served the community as a member of the Monaghan Township Volunteer Fire Company from 1973 through the present. Since 2004, he has been the assistant chief; and also serves as the treasurer, a post he took in 1976. From 1973 to 1993, he served as an EMT with the Upper Allen Fire Department EMS. He also serves on the West Shore EMS, BlS Advisory Committee. From 1982 to 1987, Cosey was the Monaghan Township auditor. He also belonged to the Citizens Hose Company, Dillsburg, from 1972 to 1975.

____Misdemeanor 1 and summary charges were filed earlier this week against two teenage boys following an incident in the 400 block of Woodland Drive on Friday, May 3 at 12:30 p.m.
____According to Carroll Township Police Chief Sean Kapfhammer, the duo were charged with child luring, disorderly conduct and harassment by Sergeant John Schreiner.
____Police said the teens, driving a tan Chrysler Sebring, approached a group of 7-10 year old girls who were walking home, just after getting off the school bus, and offered them a ride and candy. The children ran home and told their parents, who then called police.
____Off duty Carroll Township police officer Michael Lohr observed the tan vehicle acting suspicious in the area and was able to provide a description of the vehicle and the suspects, police said. The vehicle and teenagers were later spotted and stopped on Route 15 by another officer. The teens told police that it was a prank.

Steve Zientek will be inducted into the West Shore Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame this month for his achievements as coach.
____The 2013 Dillsburg Youth Baseball season is well under way and with that, every player and fan has big dreams of trying to duplicate the success of last year's Majors (11-12) squad, which advanced all the way to the state tournament.
____This year the league, in its 62nd season, features 38 teams playing in six different age categories.
____The regular season runs until June 8, so fans have plenty of time to catch games at several local venues, including Franklin Fields Nos. 1 and 2, Krall Field, Logan Park Field, Ryder Field and Wolf Field.
____Coverage and results can be found two places. The first is online at dillsburgyouthbaseball.org. The league website provides schedules, standings and up-to-date scores.

____Northern first-year softball coach Jess Rhoads believes that her squad, with a spot in the District 3-AAA playoffs almost locked up, has the potential to surprise some people this postseason.
____With two solid pitchers in Shanon Ward and Angie Mikos -- and a batting lineup that can mash from top to bottom -- Rhoads just may be right.
____The Polar Bears were firing on all cylinders Friday afternoon, crunching Mid-Penn Capital Division opponent East Pennsboro for an 11-1 victory in six innings.
____Northern (12-6, 9-2 Capital) pounded out 15 hits, all singles, and posted runs in all but two innings. The Polar Bears batted .517 (15-for-29) against two Panthers pitchers, which included a right-hander and a left-hander.

____ Northern got back on the winning track last Friday by defeating Mid Penn Capital division foe East Pennsboro 8-3. The Polar Bears' offense finally broke out of their slump as they clubbed 12 hits. Senior Anthony Salomone went 3-for- 4 with two triples and a double. Zach Zinn and Jared Rahn also contributed three hits apiece in the win.
____ Salomone led the way on the mound as well. He threw six innings, allowing three runs and striking out 10 batters with no walks. Junior Dillon Heatwole came on in the 7th to secure the victory for the Bears.
____Northern stands at 9-8 and in 3rd place in the Capital Division heading into the final week of the regular season.
On Thursday, May 2, Susquenita defeated the Polar Bears 7-3 on Northern's home turf. Senior Josh Wong and sophomore Zach Zinn both hit their first career high school home runs. Senior shortstop Tyler Betz was 2- for- 3 with a double. Junior Rodney Copenhaver took the loss on the mound as he allowed seven hits and four earned runs. Copenhaver also walked five and posted two strikeouts.

____ “My business card just says Paula Knudsen. After we married, I asked my husband if he would care if I used just my maiden name as my professional business identity. For a long time, I practiced law with my maiden name. My full name is Paula Kay Knudsen Burke. Everyone from church calls me Paula Burke.”
____Paula was born December 26, 1975 at Holy Spirit hospital. She was a Christmas baby. “My mother went into labor at Christmas dinner.” The family moved into Northern York County School District when Paula was in first grade.
____ “My oldest sister Dawn and I are 14 months apart. We’ve been very close our entire life. My sister Claudia is five years younger than me.” Her mother Charlotte and her father Paul were both physical education majors. “And dad had three daughters, go figure,” Paula said. “So he coached us on the soccer field and on the softball diamond. We do have a very close knit family.”

Dave Thompson is all smiles during his first game as an umpire which coincided with his 61st birthday.
____ Dillsburg resident Dave Thompson has big dreams of making it to the big leagues as a baseball umpire.
____ Thompson would love to travel and see the sights. He thinks of each road trip as a vacation.
____There are many, many things Thompson would like to do with his new part-time gig as an umpire.
There’s just one thing that may create a challenge - Thompson is 61.
____However, if there’s one person who doesn't see age as a factor, it’s Thompson, who spent his 61st birthday umpiring his first Dillsburg Youth Baseball game on April 17.
____“I've never done anything like that for my birthday before,” said Thompson, who also stays busy working for the West Shore Country Club and putting in time for the fire companies in Dillsburg and Franklintown. “I’ve got to keep myself active. I’ll look old if I just sit around.”
