By Erica Smithson
____Dillsburg’s annual PickleFest street fair will be held on Saturday, May 11, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Greenbrier Lane (Harrisburg Pike to North Baltimore Street).
____This year’s event promises to feature many of the same dill-lightful activities that people have come to expect from PickleFest, such as the “Pickle Chase” 5K and Fun Run to benefit Miranda’s Smile, a pickle eating contest, family-friendly games and entertainment as well as food favorites such as pulled pork sandwiches and dill pickle soup prepared by the Northern York County Historical and Preservation Society (NYCHAPS) and served up at Maple Shade Barn.
____PickleFest’s organizers are promising this year’s fair to be “bigger and better.” The festivities are being coordinated by the Dillsburg Borough and a committee of local business leaders and prior PickleFest organizers. Al Kauffman, owner of MANEtenance Barber Styling and one of the members of this committee, says that an eventual goal is to make the committee the permanent overseers of the PickleFest and the New Year’s Eve Pickle Drop, similar to the committee in charge of Farmers Fair.

____ The Northern High School held an assembly "Distracted Driving" on Friday, April 26. The timing could not have been better since the prom is right around the corner. Tim Colgan, Colgan and Associates of Dillsburg, introduced the guest speaker Chris Marzzacco, Anapol Schwartz of Harrisburg, Attorneys at Law. April has been set aside to educate teenage drivers on the different types of distractions while driving a car. Marzzacco spoke of the Casey Feldman Foundation. "Casey Feldman was killed by a distracted driver at a crosswalk on July 17, 2009. She was only twenty-one and a senior at Fordham University. She had a promising future before her life was cut short," said Marzzacco. The Casey Feldman Foundation educates drivers and passengers, especially teenagers to look out for distractions and have better driving habits.
