Waitress saves choking person using Heimlich maneuver at
Chow Down Restaurant

By Erica Smithson

Amy Miller saved the life of a woman by using the Heimlich maneuver at the Chow Down Restaurant.

____
If you’ve taken a health-and-safety course in school or through an organization such as the American Red Cross, you’ve likely heard of the Heimlich maneuver, the abdominal thrusting technique used to rescue choking victims. You might learn the maneuver hoping to never have to use it, but since its creation in 1974 by Ohio thoracic surgeon Henry Heimlich and a team of researchers from Cincinnati’s Jewish Hospital, it is estimated that the Heimlich maneuver has saved tens of thousands of lives. Another life was added to that list last Monday, Jan. 21, at the Chow Down Restaurant in Wellsville, thanks to the quick thinking of Amy Miller, 41, daughter of the restaurant’s owner, Sharon Miller.
____ A group from the Dover Senior Center had come into Chow Down for lunch after playing bingo. Amy said she was walking through the dining room with a pitcher of water when she overheard other women at the group’s table repeatedly asking the victim, “Are you OK?”
____ The woman’s hand was to her throat and she wasn’t saying anything. She was choking on a piece of her sandwich.

Millenium Pizza offers finest ingredients, top customer service for over 13 years
By Erica Smithson

The Faraone family knows the importance of providing good food at fair prices to fellow Dillsburg families. Giampiero, his wife Ornella and son Nicholas all help to run Millenium Pizza.

____
Millenium Pizza, located at 26 S. Baltimore St. in Dillsburg, celebrated its 13th anniversary in November. The key to Millenium’s success, according to owner Giampiero Faraone, is consistency.
____ “Keep everything the same,” he said. “You can’t go wrong.”
____ Faraone said his menu has largely stayed the same all 13 years. Though he occasionally offers new dishes, he evaluates his menu every six months and removes what does not work. But the strength of his dishes lies in the fact that all of the ingredients he uses are high quality, from cheese, pepperoni and provolone to ham, chicken, veal and more. He also gives an ample amount of meat on his subs and sandwiches. Cheeseburger subs have a half-pound of meat; cheeseburgers have a quarter-pound of hamburger on them. Cheese steaks contain eight ounces of a top-quality steak, which is fresh with no water added. Not many pizza shops offer that, Faraone says.
