Single vehicle accident claims life
A woman was killed after she lost control of her vehicle while traveling south on Route 15 near the Scotch Pine Road intersection, drove off into the grass, became airborne, and crashed on the driver's side into a tree Thursday morning around 10:00 a.m. A passenger was airlifted to a local hospital.
Karen Roethlein, 65, of Palmyra was pronounced dead at the scene.
A witness said the car started to swerve before it left the roadway and did not appear to be speeding.
Both north and southbound lanes of Route 15 were closed for several hours as volunteers from Dillsburg, Franklintown, York Springs and Wellsville fire companies worked to free the driver and passenger and accident reconstruction teams from Northern Regional Police and Pennsylvania State Police investigated the scene.
Route 15 is shutdown to airlift the passenger of the single vehicle accident.

Cravers found guilty
Defense attorneys seek time served
By Marie Chomicki
_---A jury has found a Dillsburg couple guilty of causing the death of their 7-year-old adopted Russian son, Nathaniel Craver.
_---The verdict was split. After spending the past 19 months behind bars in York County Prison, Michael and Nanettte Craver, of Blair Mountain Road, were found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of endangering the welfare of children and conspiring to commit the offenses. However, they were found not guilty of first- and third-degree murder and conspiring to commit the offenses.
_---Common Pleas Judge John S. Kennedy set bail at $50,000 each following closing arguments on Friday, Sept. 16. After hearing nine days of testimony, the jury reached the verdict in two hours. Sentencing is set for Nov. 18 at 2:30 p.m. The defense team of five attorneys is seeking time served for the Cravers. Standard minimum sentencing range for involuntary homicide is nine to 16 months in prison.
_---“They (the Commonwealth) didn’t say who committed the crime. They have no theory. They didn’t have any evidence of either one,” Gerald Lord said following the verdict. Lord represents Nanette Craver.
It will be “incredibly hard to build their lives,” Lord said. “They lost everything - their house, their jobs.”
