Fly fishing lessons help cancer battle
__By Curt Werner
_ During the week of June 11, Allenberry Resort hosted Reel Recovery, the eleventh Fly Fishing Retreat for men with cancer.
_ Eleven men from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, all in various stages of recovering from cancer, were taught how to fly fish. For two and a half days they were paired up with Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited volunteers and took to the waters of the Yellow Breeches.
_ Reel Recovery was started in 2003 by a group of fly fisherman who had a friend that was fighting an ongoing battle with brain cancer. They saw how fly fishing relieved his stress and helped him cope with the disease. Reel Recovery was started to help other men deal with cancer and became a national non-profit organization with retreats helping men with all forms of cancer.

Krise Financial claims DYB Hybrid crown
By Andy Sandrik
It has only been a handful of years since Dillsburg Youth Baseball installed the "Hybrid" division to introduce players to pitching and catching at a young age.
vvBut even over this short period of time, the Hybrid division has developed into somewhat of a powerhouse. This was perfectly evident during the DYB championship game on June 11 at Ryder Field, as pitching and defense ruled the day.
vvThe game saw Krise Financial log a hard-earned 4-2 victory over Richard E. Krall, Inc.

DYB grinding through District 14 tourney
By Andy Sandrik
vvThere's no pressure for Dillsburg Youth Baseball's 11-12 International All-Star team, a squad dealt the herculean task of trying to match the effort of last summer's state-qualifying outfit.
vvYes, Mark Yinger's squad would love to compete for state and regional glory, but for now their focus is shooting to be the top dog in District 14. Dillsburg opened district pool play last weekend and with three games in three days, Yinger's boys posted a 2-1 record.
vvDillsburg lost its opener 4-1 to South Middleton on Friday, but bounced back with an 11-1 victory over Bermudian on Saturday and a 4-1 win over Spring Grove on Sunday. If Yinger's club was fortunate to defeat Dover on Wednesday, a game played after the Banner's press deadline, Dillsburg will advance to the district's double-elimination tournament, which begins next week.
