Flames shoot high into the air from a car fire in the Dunkin’ Donuts’ parking lot Saturday afternoon, June 16. Dillsburg Citizen’s Hose firefighters Carla and Mark Snyder were first to respond. Franklintown firefighter Wilbur Stough used the Jaws of Life to open the hood. Cause of the fire is unknown.

Next steps taken toward new township building

__By Carolyn Hoffman

_ Monaghan Township Supervisors plan a workshop meeting for June 27 where they will discuss possible options for a new, “not complicated” township building.
_ They will also soon be interviewing architects to get ideas about layout possibilities. The current township office has a leaky roof and an unusable second floor, as well as a furnace that has needed several recent repairs. Supervisors have described the building as being past its usable life.
_ In other business at their recent meeting, road work was a key agenda item. Work is set to begin sometime during the week of July 16 on Dorsey Lane in Monaghan Township. The road will be closed for the work, which will involve replacing a deteriorating pipe under the creek. At the June 11 supervisors’ meeting, the timing for the project was called “tentative but likely.”

_ “Sometimes you just know it’s time to go out on your own,” said local Realtor Katie Fox. And this is the time for her.
She opened ADORE Real Estate Company three months ago after learning the trade as a RE/MAX agent for 13 years.
Fox grew up in the Wellsville area and graduated from Northern High School. After attending a few years in college with the intention of becoming a teacher, she realized teaching was not for her.
_ “I’ve always been fascinated with buildings,” said Fox. “As a kid I’d look at real estate ads and want to see inside the houses, to think about what I could do with them.” It was that fascination that led her to get her real estate license in 2005. She joined up with Jack Gaughen Realtor and had a successful career.
_ Also during that time she married builder Brandon Fox, helped him grow his business Belle Builders, had two children, and studied for her real estate broker’s license.
