Pedestrian bridge is down

____Norfolk Southern took down the Creek Road pedestrian bridge in Berkshire Hills, Carroll Township Tuesday, April 17. After workers sawed cuts into the beams on either side and secured sections of the wooden stråucture with chains, the driver of a piece of heavy equipment used its bucket to grab the chains and pull the bridge down. The job was finished in a matter of minutes. In photo above, the demolished bridge lays across the tracks. On right, the scoring on the beams can be seen on the bridge before being torn down.

DYB division races tighten

By Andy Sandrik

vvLast week's slate of Dillsburg Youth Baseball games featured two extra-inning games, a no-hitter and a player who greatly influenced the final outcome of a game with both his arm and bat.
vvThe DYB's first extra inning game of the season came on April 18, when Bob Ruth Ford and Weaver's of Wellsville needed seven innings to decide a crucial Majors division contest. Three days later in the Minors division, State Farm Insurance and Apicella Lorei Orthodontics needed eight innings to determine a winner.
vvECI, a Majors team, got a no-hitter in a unique way on April 18, using six different pitchers to complete a no-no over South Middleton Labuda.
Finally, on April 23, Liam McCartney of Steve Morret Plumbing & Heating went wild in a victory over Rhoads Trucking. McCartney worked five innings and struck out 15 batters. He helped his own cause at the plate, going 3 for 3 with two doubles and two RBI.
