On the Big Stage:
NHS graduate part of
Sight & Sound production
By Carolyn Kimmel
____ In what is somewhat of a dream come true, Lydia Saurman traded Northern High School’s stage, where she was the lead in “The Sound of Music” just last spring, for the stage at Lancaster’s Sight & Sound Theatre.
____ The 2017 Northern graduate successfully applied, auditioned and was selected for one of 10 spots in this year’s Sight & Sound Conservatory, a one-year intensive theater training program that includes the chance to be part of its latest production, “Jesus.”
____ “This is one of the largest stages in the nation. It still takes my breath away to think I am on this stage,” said Saurman, who is part of the ensemble of the 80-member cast. “I always said my end goal was to perform on the Sight & Sound stage. Now I’m hopefully starting a journey with theater and ministry at the place that was my end goal.”
